EXPLANATION OF CHART

HISTORIC PRE-MILLENNIALISM. This view, held by the very early church, sees five time periods following Christ's
. . birth (B), death on the cross (C), resurrection and ascension (A):
. . 1. The Church Age. During this period the church gradually spreads throughout the world, but only some become
. . . . believers.
. . 2. The Great Tribulation. This is the short period during which Satan tries to wipe out the church.
. . 3. The Millennium. At Christ's Second Coming (SC), He first has Satan bound (SB), and then, along with the
. . . . resurrected, glorified saints (RR), rules the world for a thousand years.
. . 4. The Battle of Armageddon. At the end of the thousand years, Satan is loosed (SL). He gathers together all the
. . . . armies of the wicked nations to destroy the saints, but is defeated and thrown into the Lake of Fire (the second
. . . . death). This period is terminated by the Final Judgment (FJ) and resurrection of the wicked (RW).
. . 5. The Eternal State. The glorified saints are taken to Heaven and the wicked to Hell forever.

POST-MILLENNIALISM. This view, attributed to Augustine, is similar to Historic Pre-Millennialism, differing mainly
. . in that the Millennium (when Satan is bound) precedes Christ's Second Coming, having been achieved by the Church's
. . evangelization of the whole world. The Great Tribulation is also the Battle of Armageddon.

A-MILLENNIALISM. This view differs from Post-Millennialism principally in that the Millennium is in Heaven, where
. . Christ reigns until His Second Coming. Satan was bound at the time of Christ's crucifixion.

DISPENSATIONAL PRE-MILLENNIALISM. This view is the most involved view of the four, and is attributed
. . to those who use the Schofield Bible, with its dispensational teachings. Many books have been written by its
. . adherents, but details differ among most of these authors. The main difference with Historic Premillennialism
. . is that Christ comes secretly the first time, rapturing the saints in the air, when He judges and rewards them.
. . While so occupied, Satan initiates the Great Tribulation, which is terminated by Christ's second Second Coming,
. . this time publicly. In this view the Final Judgment is of the wicked only. The Eternal State has the saints in
. . Heaven, the Jews on Earth, and the wicked in Hell.

SCRIPTURES SUPPORTING MILLENNIAL VIEWS

Isaiah 2:2-4: "In the last days the mountain of the Lord's temple will be established as chief among the mountains;
it will be raised above the hills, and all nations will stream to it. Many peoples will come and say, 'Come, let us go
up to the sountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us His ways, so that we may walk
in His paths.' The law will go out from Zion, the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. He will judge between the
nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into
pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, and they will not train for war anymore."

Isaiah 11:1-11 (Abridged): "A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.
The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him — . . . with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give
decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he
will slay the wicked. . . . The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the
lion and the yearling together; ard a little child will lead them. . . . They will neither harm nor destroy on all my
holy sountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. In that day the
Root of Jssse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his place of rest will be
glorious. In that day the Lord will reach out his hand a second time to reclaim the remnant that is left of his people
from Assyria, from Lower Egypt, from Upper Egypt, from Cush, from Elam. from Babylonia, from Hamath and
from the islands of the sea."

Isaiah 65: 17-25 (Abridged): "'Behold, I will create new heavens ard a new earth. The former things will not be
remembered, nor will they come to mind. But be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create, for I will create
Jerusalem to be a delight and its people a joy. I will rejoice over Jerusalem and take delight in my people; the
sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more. Never again will there be in it an infant who lives but
a few days, or an old man who does not live out his years; he who dies at a hundred will be thought a mere youth;
he who fails to reach a hundred will be considered accursed. No longer will they build houses and others live in
them, or plant and others eat. . . . Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear. For
the wolf and the lamb will feed topether, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but dust will be the serpent’s
food. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain,’ says the Lord."

Ezekiel chapters 40-48:Vision of Renewed Worship: Wall around the temple (40:1-7); temple exterior
(40:48-41:26); temple interior (ohapter 42); the return of God’s glory (chapter 43); the priesthood (ohapter 44)
land allotment (ohapter 45); the duties of the prince (chapter 46); life-giving water (47:1-12); land allotment
(47:13-4B:35).

Daniel 2:44-45: In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed,
nor will it be left to another peoule. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself
endure forever. This is the meaning of the vision of the rock cut out of a mountain, but not with human hands —
a rock that broke the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver and the gold to pieces."

Daniel 7:23-25: "He gave me this explanation: The fourth beast is a fourth kingdom that will appear on earth.
It will be different from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth, trampling it down and crushing it.
The ten horns are ten kings who will come from this kingdom. After them another king will arise, different from the
earlier ones; he will subdue three kings. He will speak against the Most High and oppress his saints and try to
change the set times and the laws. The saints will be handed over to him for a time, tiae and half a time."

Daniel 9:24-27: "Seventy ‘sevens' are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put
an end to sins, to atone for wickedness, to bring on everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to
anoint the most holy. Know and understand this: From the issuirg of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until
the Anointed One, the ruler, comes there will be seven ‘sevens' and sixty-two ‘sevens’. It will be rebuilt with streets
and a trench, but in times of trouble. After the sixty-two ‘sevens’, the Anointed One will be cut off and will have
nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood:
War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. He will confirm a covenant with many for one
‘seven’, in the middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. Then on a wing of the temple he
will set up an abomination that causes descration, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.

Daniel 12:2, 8-13: "And many of those who sleep in the dust shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame
and everlasting contempt.". . . "I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked: ‘My lord what will the outcome of all
this be?’ He replied, ‘Go your way, Daniel, because the words are closed up and sealed until the time of the end.
Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked
will understand but those who are wise will understand. But the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the
abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. Blessed is the who waits for and reaches the
end of the 1,335 days. As for you, go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will
be made to receive your allotted inheritance."

Matthew 23:37-39: "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often
I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing.
Look, your hous is left to you desolate. For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, 'Blessed is he who
comes in the name of the Lord.”

Matthew 24:3-44 (Abridged): "'Tell us,' they said, 'when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming
and of the end of the age?' Jesus answered: 'Watch out that no one deceives you. . . . Nation will rise against ration,
and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of
birth pains. Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations
because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false
prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold
but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world
as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. So when you see standing in the holy place the abomination
that causes desolation, spoken of through the prophet Daniel — let the reader understand — then let those woo are in
Judea flee to the mountains. Let no one on the roof of his house go down to take anyth:ng out of the house. Let no one
in the field go back to get his cloak. How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothars!
Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. For then there will be great distress, unequaled
from the beginning of the world until now — and never to be equaled again. If those days had not been cut short, no
one could survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. . . . For as lightning that comes from
the east is visible even in the west, so will be the comring of the Son of Man. . . . Immediately after the distress of
those days ‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the
heavenly bodies will be shaken.'At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations
of the earth will mourn. They w:ll see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory.
And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end
of the heavens to the other. . . . No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but
only the Father. . . . Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. . . . So you
also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do — not expect him.

Acts 3:19-21: "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may
come from the Lord, and that he may send the Christ, who has bee appointed for you — even Jesus. He must remain
in heaven until the time comes for God to restore everything, as He promised long ago through His holy prophets.

I Corinthians 15:22-26: "For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own turn: Christ,
the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom
to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his
enesies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death."

I Thessalonians 4:14-l7: "We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus
those who have fallen asleen in him. According to the Lord’s own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are
left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will
come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and
the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up topether with them in
the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever."

Revelation 19:11—21 (Abridged): "I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider
is called Faithful and True. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his naae is the Word of God. The armies of
heaven were following Him, riding cn white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Out of his mouth comes a
sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. 'He will rule them with an iron scepter.' He treads the winepress of
the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On His robe and on His thigh he has this name written: ‘King of kings and Lord
of lords.’ . . .
"Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered toqether to make war a against the rider on
the horse and his army. But the Beast was captured, and with him the False Pprophet . . . The rest of then were killed
with the sword that came out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves on their flesh.

Revelation 20:1-6: "And I saw an angel coning down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his
hand a great chain. He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand
years. He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore
until the thousand years were ended. After that, he sust be set free for a short time. I saw thronea on which were
seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of
their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not
received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. (The
rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. Blessed and
holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be
priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years."
